音楽とは何か？

音楽とは何か？以下は私の完全主観による見解です。

音楽とは感情や精神性などの情報を伝える記号化手段の一つ。言語だけでは表現できないような気持ちの高まりや悲哀・自然への賛美や神への信仰心といったものを伝えることができる。言語だけで補えない情報の伝達手段として他には絵画や漫画といったものがある。音楽は感情や精神性の伝達に特化している。

信仰心を高める音楽・・・宗教音楽・賛美歌

士気や闘争心や祖国愛などを高める音楽・・・軍歌・行進曲

仏教的無常観や幽玄をテーマにした音楽・・・猿楽

商品の良さをつたえる音楽・・・CM曲

今日恋愛をテーマにした音楽がメジャーとなっている。恋愛というテーマ自体は古代からずっと扱われてきたテーマであるが、政府批判や社会転覆につながらないといった安心感から今日も広く扱われている。一方軍歌や宗教音楽は中央政権に危険視され、ほぼ絶滅状態となっている。

古来東洋の音楽は自然と融和し自然を模倣した音楽が多かった。

一方西洋では人間性と真正面から向き合うような情緒豊かな音楽が発展の中心となってきた。

例えば人の顔について伝えたい時、言語だけで伝えるのはとてつもなく難しい事ですが、似顔絵を書けばだいぶ伝えたいものに近づくことができます。音楽の役割も似たようなものです。

音楽は言語だけで補えない情報を伝える大切な表現手段であり、人類が何十万年何百万年と試行錯誤を重ねて生まれたものです。これからも音楽と向き合うことによって私達は人生をより豊かなものにしていくことができるでしょう。

お経のリズムと音楽がこんなに相性がよいなんて気づきでした。般若心経がもっと好きになりました。日本人の感性には素直に理解しやすいものがあります。

ディズニー『アナと雪の女王』の「Let it go」に出てくる難しい英単語や英文もストーリーがわかれば見えてくる

アレンデール王国の姉妹エルサとアナは仲良しで、王女エルサは生まれつき周囲を凍りつかせる能力をもっていました。幼い頃その能力のせいで妹に傷を負わせてしまい。以後その能力をずっと隠してきました。しかしエルサが女王の戴冠式を行う頃、パーティーで出会ったハンス王子と妹が結婚すると言い出したことによる口論がきっかけで能力が発露してしまい王国に甚大な被害をもたらしてしまいました。エルサは北の山中に逃げましたが「Let it go」はそのときのエルサの心情を歌った曲。

「let it go」は行かせようから転じて諦めのような心情の表現「もういいや」的な。映画を見た流れだとエルサがこれまでしてきた努力が思い起こされる。

「isolation」は孤独とか孤立とか

A kingdom of isolation,and it looks like I'm the Queen(隔てられた王国で女王はきっと私ね)

「howl」はうなる「Swirling」は渦巻くで

The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside(心に渦巻く嵐のように風は唸る)

insideは「エルサの心の中」。

Couldn't keep it in,Heaven knows I tried

( (魔法の力を) 抑えることができなかったこと神様は知ってるわ)

エルサが持って生まれた凍りつかせの能力のせいで王国は氷の世界に変わってしまいました。

「Conceal」は隠せ、エルサは王様から能力を隠せとずっと言われていました。王様からの言葉をここではエルサが繰り返しています。泣けてきますね。

Can't hold it back anymore(もうこれ以上(魔法の力を)抑えていられない)

ずっと抑えてきたんですね、かわいそすぎ；；

Let the storm rage on 嵐よ吹き荒れよ rageは激しい風の表現

エルサがストレスでぶっ壊れたという曲だったんですね！

すがすがしいまでの吹っ切れっぷりです！
